Moroni’s Final Words
I, Moroni, write some things that seem good to me. I write to my brothers, the Lamanites. I want them to know that more than 420 years have passed since the sign was given about Christ’s coming. I will close up these records after I have said a few things to help you.
How to Know the Truth
When you read these things, if it is God’s will that you read them, remember how kind the Lord has been to people. Remember this from when Adam was created to the time you get these records. Think about it in your hearts. When you get these things, I want you to ask God the Father, in the name of Christ, if they are true. If you ask with a real heart and real purpose, having faith in Christ, he will show you the truth by the power of the Holy Spirit. By the power of the Holy Spirit, you can know the truth of all things.
Whatever thing is good is right and true. So nothing that is good rejects Christ. Instead, it says that he is real. You can know that he is real by the power of the Holy Spirit. So I want you not to reject God’s power. He works by power, based on how much people have faith. He does this today, tomorrow, and forever.
The Gifts of God
Again, I want you, my brothers, not to reject the gifts of God. There are many gifts. They come from the same God. There are different ways these gifts are given. But it is the same God who does all things. The gifts are given by the Holy Spirit to help people. One person is given by the Spirit of God the gift to teach wise words. Another person is given the gift to teach words of knowledge by the same Spirit. Another person is given very strong faith. And another person is given gifts of healing by the same Spirit. Again, another person is given the gift to do great miracles. Again, another person is given the gift to tell what will happen. Again, another person is given the gift of seeing angels and spirits who serve. Again, another person is given the gift of all kinds of languages. Again, another person is given the gift to understand languages and different kinds of languages. All these gifts come by the Spirit of Christ. They come to each person as he chooses to give them.
I want you, my dear brothers, to remember that every good gift comes from Christ. I want you, my dear brothers, to remember that he is the same yesterday, today, and forever. All these gifts I have talked about are spiritual gifts. They will never be done away as long as the world lasts. The only thing that can stop them is if people do not believe.
Faith, Hope, and Love
So there must be faith. If there must be faith, there must also be hope. If there must be hope, there must also be love. If you do not have love, you cannot be saved in God’s kingdom. You also cannot be saved in God’s kingdom if you do not have faith. And you cannot be saved if you do not have hope. If you have no hope, you must be without hope and sad. Being without hope comes because of doing wrong. Christ told our fathers the truth: 'If you have faith, you can do all things that are right for me.'
I speak to everyone in the world. If the day comes when God’s power and gifts are done away among you, it will be because you do not believe. It will be very bad for people if this happens. There will be no one among you who does good. Not even one person. If there is one among you who does good, he will do it by the power and gifts of God. It will be very bad for those who reject these things and die. They die in their sins. They cannot be saved in God’s kingdom. I say this because Christ said it. I do not lie.
I want you to remember these things. The time will come soon when you will know that I do not lie. You will see me standing before God. The Lord God will say to you: 'Did I not tell you my words, which were written by this man? He was like someone calling from the dead. He was like someone speaking from the dust.' I say these things to make the prophecies come true. They will go out from the mouth of God who lives forever. His word will go out from one group of people to the next. God will show you that what I have written is true.
Come to Christ
Again, I want you to come to Christ. Hold on to every good gift. Do not touch the bad gift or the unclean thing. Wake up and get up from the dust, Jerusalem. Put on your beautiful clothes, daughter of Zion. Make your stakes strong. Make your borders bigger forever. Then you will not be confused anymore. The promises that God the Father made to you, house of Israel, will come true.
Come to Christ. Be made perfect in him. Stop doing all ungodly things. If you stop doing all ungodly things and love God with all your strength, mind, and power, then his grace is enough for you. By his grace you can be perfect in Christ. If by God’s grace you are perfect in Christ, you cannot reject God’s power. Again, if by God’s grace you are perfect in Christ and do not reject his power, then you are made holy in Christ by God’s grace. This happens through Christ’s blood, which is part of the Father’s promise. This promise forgives your sins. You become holy without any bad spot.
Moroni’s Farewell
Now I say goodbye to everyone. I will soon rest in God’s paradise. My spirit and body will join together again. I will be brought up through the air in victory. I will meet you before the bar of the great Jehovah. He is the Judge of both the living and the dead. Amen.
