Moroni’s Final Words

I, Moroni, am writing a few final things. I’m speaking to my people, the Lamanites. I want you to know that more than four hundred twenty years have passed since the sign of Christ’s coming was given. After I share a few more words with you, I’ll seal up these records.

The Promise

When you read these things—if God wants you to read them—remember how merciful the Lord has been to people. From the time of Adam to the day you hold this record, think about his kindness. Let it sink deep into your hearts. After you’ve read this, I urge you to ask God the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are true. If you ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will show you the truth of it by the power of the Holy Spirit. By the power of the Holy Spirit, you can know the truth of all things. Whatever is good is also just and true. Nothing that is good denies Christ—it acknowledges him. You can know he’s real by the power of the Holy Spirit. So don’t deny the power of God. He works through power, according to people’s faith—the same today, tomorrow, and forever.

The Gifts of the Spirit

Don’t deny the gifts of God. There are many of them, and they all come from the same God. These gifts are given in different ways, but it’s the same God working through all of them. They’re given by the Spirit of God to help people. To one person the Spirit gives the ability to teach wisdom. To another, the ability to teach knowledge through that same Spirit. To another, extraordinary faith. To another, the gifts of healing through that same Spirit. To another, the power to work mighty miracles. To another, the ability to prophesy about all things. To another, the ability to see angels and ministering spirits. To another, the ability to speak all kinds of languages. To another, the ability to interpret languages and diverse kinds of tongues. All these gifts come through the Spirit of Christ. They’re given to each person individually, according to Christ’s will.

Remember this: every good gift comes from Christ. Remember that he’s the same yesterday, today, and forever. All these spiritual gifts I’ve talked about will never disappear, as long as the world stands—unless people stop believing.

Faith, Hope, and Charity

So there must be faith. And if there must be faith, there must also be hope. And if there must be hope, there must also be charity. Without charity, you can’t be saved in God’s kingdom. You can’t be saved without faith either. Or without hope. Without hope, you’re left in despair. And despair comes from sin. Christ told our ancestors: “If you have faith, you can do all things that are right for me to ask of you.”

I’m speaking to everyone, everywhere: if the day comes when God’s power and gifts disappear from among you, it will be because of unbelief. How terrible it will be if that happens. No one will do good—not even one person. Because if anyone among you does good, they’re doing it by the power and gifts of God. How terrible for those who reject these things and die in that condition. They die in their sins and can’t be saved in God’s kingdom. I’m saying this according to Christ’s own words, and I’m not lying.

A Voice from the Dust

Remember what I’m telling you. The time is coming soon when you’ll know I’m not lying—you’ll see me at God’s judgment seat. The Lord God will say to you: “Didn’t I declare my words to you through this man? Like someone crying out from the dead, like a voice speaking from the dust?” I’m declaring these things to fulfill prophecy. These words will come from the mouth of the everlasting God, and his word will echo from generation to generation. God will show you that what I’ve written is true.

Come to Christ

Once more I urge you: come to Christ. Take hold of every good gift. Don’t touch the evil gift or the unclean thing. Wake up and rise from the dust, Jerusalem. Put on your beautiful clothes, daughter of Zion. Strengthen your foundations and expand your borders forever, so you’ll never be shamed again. Then the covenants the Eternal Father made with you, people of Israel, will be fulfilled.

Come to Christ and be made perfect in him. Turn away from everything ungodly. If you turn away from all ungodliness and love God with all your might, mind, and strength, then his grace is enough for you. By his grace you can be perfect in Christ. And if by God’s grace you’re perfect in Christ, you can’t deny God’s power. And if by God’s grace you’re perfect in Christ and don’t deny his power, then you’re sanctified in Christ through God’s grace, through the blood of Christ shed according to the covenant with the Father. This brings forgiveness of your sins, so you become holy and spotless.

Now I say goodbye to everyone. I’m going to rest in God’s paradise until my spirit and body reunite. Then I’ll be brought forth triumphant through the air to meet you before the pleasing judgment seat of the great Jehovah, the Eternal Judge of both the living and the dead. Amen.
