A Great Curse on the Land
A great curse came upon the land because the people were so bad. If a man put his tool or sword on a shelf to keep it there, the next morning he couldn’t find it. The curse was that bad. So every man held on to what was his. He wouldn’t borrow or lend. Every man kept his sword in his right hand to protect his property and his own life. He also protected his wives and children.
Shared’s Brother Rises Up
Two years passed. Shared died. Then Shared’s brother rose up and fought Coriantumr. Coriantumr beat him and chased him to the wilderness of Akish. Shared’s brother fought him in the wilderness of Akish. The battle was very bad. Many thousands died by the sword. Coriantumr surrounded the wilderness. Then Shared’s brother marched out of the wilderness at night. He killed part of Coriantumr’s army while they were drunk. He went to the land of Moron. He sat on Coriantumr’s throne.
Coriantumr lived with his army in the wilderness for two years. During that time his army became very strong.
Gilead Is Murdered
Shared’s brother was named Gilead. His army also became very strong because of secret groups. Then Gilead’s high priest killed him as he sat on his throne. One of the secret groups killed him in a secret pass. This person took over the kingdom. His name was Lib. Lib was taller than any other person among all the people.
Lib Fights Coriantumr
In Lib’s first year as king, Coriantumr came to the land of Moron and fought Lib. He fought with Lib. Lib hit Coriantumr’s arm and hurt him. But Coriantumr’s army pushed forward against Lib. Lib ran away to the borders by the sea. Coriantumr chased him. Lib fought him by the sea. Lib beat Coriantumr’s army. They ran back to the wilderness of Akish.
Lib chased him until he came to the plains of Agosh. Coriantumr had taken all the people with him as he ran from Lib in that part of the land. When he got to the plains of Agosh, he fought Lib. He hit him until he died. But Lib’s brother came against Coriantumr in his place. The battle was very bad. Coriantumr ran away again from the army of Lib’s brother.
Shiz Destroys the Land
Lib’s brother was named Shiz. Shiz chased after Coriantumr. He destroyed many cities. He killed women and children. He burned the cities. Fear of Shiz spread through all the land. A cry went out through the land: “Who can stand against Shiz’s army? He sweeps the earth before him!”
The people began to gather together in armies all across the land. They were divided. Part of them joined Shiz’s army. Part of them joined Coriantumr’s army.
Death Covers the Land
The war had been so great and so long. There had been so much killing that the whole land was covered with dead bodies. The war was so fast that no one was left to bury the dead. They just marched from one killing to the next. They left the bodies of men, women, and children scattered on the land. The bodies became food for worms. The smell went across the whole land. The people were upset day and night because of the smell.
But Shiz didn’t stop chasing Coriantumr. He had promised to get back at Coriantumr for killing his brother. And the Lord had told Ether that Coriantumr would not die by the sword. So we see that the Lord punished them with all his anger. Their evil and terrible actions prepared the way for them to be destroyed forever.
The Battle Continues
Shiz chased Coriantumr east to the borders by the sea. There he fought Shiz for three days. So much of Shiz’s army was destroyed that the people became scared. They began to run away from Shiz’s armies to join Coriantumr. They ran to the land of Corihor. They forced out all the people who lived there, except for those who joined them.
They set up their tents in the valley of Corihor. Coriantumr set up his tents in the valley of Shurr. The valley of Shurr was near the hill Comnor. So Coriantumr gathered his armies together on the hill Comnor. He blew a trumpet to invite Shiz’s armies to come fight.
They came out to fight, but were pushed back. They came a second time and were pushed back again. They came a third time. The battle was very bad.
Shiz hit Coriantumr and gave him many deep wounds. Coriantumr lost a lot of blood. He fainted and was carried away. He looked like he was dead.
So many men, women, and children on both sides had died. So Shiz told his people not to chase Coriantumr’s armies. They went back to their camp.
