~AD 33

3 Nephi 9

After three days of darkness, a voice declares Jesus Christ destroyed wicked cities—burning, sinking, or burying them. He calls survivors to repent and come for healing. Christ announces his identity as Creator, declares the law fulfilled, and offers redemption to those with broken hearts. His sacrifice replaces animal offerings.

A Voice Cries Out

Then everyone in the land heard a voice crying out.

'How terrible for these people! How terrible for everyone on earth unless they turn from their sins! The Devil is laughing. His angels are happy because my people have been killed. They died because of their sins and bad things they did.'

Cities Destroyed for Wickedness

'I burned the great city Zarahemla with fire. I burned the people who lived there.' 'I made the great city Moroni sink into the deep sea. The people there drowned.' 'I covered the great city Moronihah with dirt. I covered the people too. This hid their sins and bad things from me. The blood of the prophets and good people will not cry out to me against them anymore.' 'I made the city of Gilgal sink. The people there are buried deep in the ground.' 'I did the same to the city Onihah and its people. I did it to the city of Mocum and its people. I did it to the city of Jerusalem and its people. I made water cover the places where they were. This hid their sins and bad things from me. The blood of the prophets and good people will not cry out to me against them anymore.' 'I made the city of Gadiandi sink. I made the city of Gadiomnah sink. I made the city of Jacob sink. I made the city of Gimgimno sink. Where these cities were, I made hills and valleys. I buried the people deep in the ground. This hid their sins and bad things from me. The blood of the prophets and good people will not cry out to me against them anymore.' 'I burned the great city Jacobugath with fire. The king of Jacob’s people lived there. They were more wicked than anyone else on earth. They did secret murders and made secret groups. They destroyed the peace of my people. They destroyed the government. So I burned them with fire. I destroyed them so they would be gone from me. The blood of the prophets and good people will not cry out to me against them anymore.' 'I burned the city of Laman with fire. I burned the city of Josh. I burned the city of Gad. I burned the city of Kishkumen. I burned the people who lived there. They were wicked. They threw out the prophets. They threw rocks at the prophets I sent to tell them about their sins and bad things.' 'They threw out all the good people. So I sent down fire and destroyed them. This hid their sins and bad things from me. The blood of the prophets and good people I sent will not cry to me from the ground against them.' 'I have caused many great disasters to come to this land and these people. This is because of their sins and bad things.'

An Invitation to Come to Jesus

'You who are still alive were saved because you were better than they were! Will you come back to me? Will you turn from your sins and change? Then I can heal you.' 'I tell you the truth. If you come to me, you will have life forever. My arm of mercy reaches out to you. I will receive anyone who comes. Those who come to me are blessed.'

Jesus Reveals Himself

'I am Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I created the heavens and the earth. I created everything in them. I was with the Father from the beginning. I am in the Father. The Father is in me. The Father has brought glory to his name in me.' 'I came to my own people. My own people did not accept me. The scriptures about my coming have come true.' 'I have given those who received me the right to become sons of God. I will do the same for everyone who believes in my name. I bring salvation. The law of Moses is completed in me.' 'I am the light and the life of the world. I am Alpha and Omega. I am the beginning and the end.'

A New Way to Worship

'You must not offer me blood anymore. Your animal sacrifices and burnt offerings are done. I will not accept your sacrifices and burnt offerings anymore.' 'You must offer me a broken heart and a sorry spirit. I will baptize with fire and the Holy Spirit anyone who comes to me with a broken heart and sorry spirit. This is like the Lamanites when they believed in me. They were baptized with fire and the Holy Spirit. They did not even know it happened.'

'I have come to the world to bring salvation. I came to save the world from sin.' 'Anyone who turns from sin and comes to me like a little child, I will receive. God’s kingdom belongs to people like this. I died for people like this. I came back to life again. So turn from your sins. Come to me, everyone on earth. Be saved.'
