Orihah Rules Fairly
Orihah ruled the land fairly all his days. He lived a very long time. He had sons and daughters. He had thirty-one kids in all. Twenty-three of them were sons. When he was old, he had a son named Kib. Kib became king after him. Kib had a son named Corihor.
Corihor Turns Against His Father
When Corihor was thirty-two years old, he turned against his father. He went and lived in the land of Nehor. He had sons and daughters. They were beautiful. Many people followed Corihor. Corihor gathered an army. He came to the land of Moron where the king lived. He took the king as his prisoner. This is what the brother of Jared had said would happen. He had said they would be taken as prisoners. The land of Moron where the king lived was near the land that the Nephites called Desolation. Kib lived as a prisoner. His people did too under Corihor his son. Kib became very old. But while he was still a prisoner, he had a son named Shule.
Shule Saves His Father
Shule was angry with his brother. Shule grew strong. He became mighty and powerful as a man. He was also wise. So he went to the hill Ephraim. He melted metal from the hill. He made swords out of steel for the people who had joined him. After he gave them weapons, he went back to the city Nehor. He fought his brother Corihor. He won the kingdom. He gave it back to his father Kib. Because of what Shule had done, his father gave him the kingdom. So Shule became king instead of his father. He ruled fairly. He spread his kingdom over all the land. The people had become very many. Shule also had many sons and daughters.
Corihor Feels Sorry
Corihor felt sorry for the many bad things he had done. So Shule gave him power in his kingdom. Corihor had many sons and daughters. One of the sons of Corihor was named Noah.
Noah Turns Against Shule
Noah turned against Shule, the king. He also turned against his father Corihor. He led away his brother Cohor. He also led away all his other brothers and many of the people. He fought Shule, the king. He won the land where their people first lived. He became king over that part of the land. He fought Shule the king again. He took Shule as his prisoner and brought him to Moron. Noah was about to kill Shule. But the sons of Shule sneaked into the house of Noah at night. They killed him. They broke down the prison door and brought out their father. They put him back on his throne in his own kingdom. So the son of Noah built up his kingdom instead. But they did not get power over Shule the king anymore. The people under the rule of Shule the king did very well and grew great.
The country was divided. There were two kingdoms. The kingdom of Shule and the kingdom of Cohor, the son of Noah. Cohor, the son of Noah, told his people to fight Shule. Shule beat them and killed Cohor. Cohor had a son named Nimrod. Nimrod gave up the kingdom of Cohor to Shule. He became Shule’s friend. So Shule was very kind to him. He let Nimrod do what he wanted in the kingdom of Shule.
Prophets Come to the People
During the time when Shule was king, prophets came to the people. The Lord sent them. They said the people’s sin and worshiping false gods was bringing a curse on the land. They would be destroyed if they did not turn away from their sins. The people were mean to the prophets. They made fun of them. King Shule punished all those who were mean to the prophets. He made a law in all the land. It let the prophets go wherever they wanted. This helped the people turn away from their sins. Because the people turned away from their sins and worshiping false gods, the Lord let them live. They began to do well again in the land. Shule had sons and daughters when he was old.
There were no more wars when Shule was king. He remembered the great things the Lord had done for his people long ago. The Lord had brought them across the great deep water to the promised land. So Shule ruled fairly all his days.
