~AD 34

3 Nephi 21

Jesus gives signs for when the Father's covenant work begins, when this record comes to the Gentiles. He describes how the Gentiles will be scattered if they reject his gospel, but welcomed if they repent. Jesus quotes Micah's prophecies about judgment on the unrepentant and destruction of witchcraft and idolatry. Those who repent will help build the New Jerusalem.

The Sign of the Gathering

I will give you a sign so you know when these things will happen. I will bring my people from the house of Israel back from far away places. I will set up my Zion among them again.

Here is the sign I will give you. When the things I tell you now and will tell you later come from me through the Holy Spirit, they will be shared with the nations. The nations will learn about your people who are part of the house of Jacob. They will also learn about your people who will be scattered by them. I tell you the truth. When the Father makes these things known to the nations, they will come from the Father through them back to you. The Father wants them to be set up in this land as a free people by his power. This way these things can come from them to some of your children. Then the Father can keep his promise that he made with his people from the house of Israel. So when these works and the works done among you later come from the nations to your children, your children will turn away from believing because of sin. The Father wants it to come from the nations so he can show his power to them. He wants the nations to repent and come to me if they don’t harden their hearts. He wants them to be baptized in my name. He wants them to learn the true points of my teaching so they can be counted among my people from the house of Israel. When these things happen and your children start to know these things, it will be a sign to them. It will show them that the Father has already started to keep the promise he made to the people from the house of Israel.

Kings Will See God’s Work

When that day comes, kings will be quiet. They will see things they had never been told about. They will think about things they had never heard.

On that day, the Father will do a great and amazing work for me. Some people will not believe it even when someone tells them about it.

But I will keep my servant safe. They will not hurt him even though he will be harmed because of them. But I will heal him. I will show them that my wisdom is greater than the tricks of the Devil.

So whoever does not believe my words—and I am Jesus Christ—will be cut off from my people who have the promise. The Father will make him bring my words to the nations. The Father will give him power to bring them to the nations. It will happen just as Moses said.

Jacob’s People Will Be Strong

My people who are part of Jacob will be among the nations. They will be in the middle of them like a lion among the forest animals. They will be like a young lion among sheep. When he goes through, he steps on them and tears them apart. No one can save them. They will defeat their enemies. All their enemies will be destroyed.

Warning to the Nations

It will be bad for the nations unless they repent. On that day, the Father says, I will take away your horses. I will destroy your chariots. I will destroy the cities of your land. I will tear down all your forts. I will get rid of magic from you. You will have no more fortune tellers. I will also get rid of your carved statues and your stone pillars. You will not worship things you made with your hands anymore. I will pull up your sacred trees. I will destroy your cities.

All lying, tricking, jealousy, fighting, fake religion, and sexual sin will be gone.

On that day, the Father says, whoever does not repent and come to my beloved Son will be cut off from my people from the house of Israel. I will punish them in anger just like other nations have been punished in ways they have never heard of.

Building the New Jerusalem

But if they will repent and listen to my words and not harden their hearts, I will set up my church among them. They will join the promise. They will be counted among this part of Jacob who I have given this land to. They will help my people who are part of Jacob. They will also help the people from the house of Israel who come. They will build a city called the New Jerusalem. Then they will help my people who are scattered all over the land come together in the New Jerusalem. Then the power of heaven will come down among them. I will also be there with them.

The Father’s Work Begins

Then the Father’s work will start on that day when this good news is preached to this part of the people. I tell you the truth. On that day the Father’s work will start among all the scattered people. It will include the tribes that have been lost, which the Father led away from Jerusalem. The work will start among all the scattered people with the Father. It will get them ready to come to me. Then they can call on the Father in my name. Then the work will start with the Father among all nations. It will get them ready so his people can come home to their land. They will come from all nations. They will not leave in a hurry. They will not run away. I will go in front of them, the Father says. I will protect them from behind.
