Moroni 4

Moroni has recorded ordination procedures for church leaders. He provides the prayer for blessing bread representing Christ's flesh, asking God to sanctify it so partakers might witness their willingness to take Christ's name and keep his commandments.

The Prayer for the Bread

Here’s how the elders and priests served bread and wine to the church. They followed Christ’s commands exactly, so we know this is the right way. An elder or priest would lead it.

'God, our Eternal Father, we ask you in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, to bless and set apart this bread for everyone who eats it. May they eat it to remember the body of your Son. May they show you, Eternal Father, that they’re willing to take his name on themselves, to always remember him, and to keep the commands he’s given them—so they can always have his Spirit with them.
