2 Nephi 32

The Holy Ghost will show them all things. Angels speak by the Holy Ghost, conveying Christ's words. Nephi cannot say more as the Spirit stops utterance. He mourns humanity's refusal to search for knowledge. The Spirit teaches people to pray always and consecrate their actions.

The Holy Spirit Will Guide You

Now, my friends, I know you’re wondering what comes next—what you should do after you’ve entered this path. But why are you even wondering about this? Remember what I told you? Once you receive the Holy Spirit, you can speak with the voice of angels. And how could you speak like angels except through the Holy Spirit? Angels speak by the power of the Holy Spirit—they speak the words of Christ. That’s why I told you to feast on the words of Christ. His words will tell you everything you need to do. So if what I’ve said doesn’t make sense to you, it’s because you’re not asking. You’re not knocking. And if you don’t ask, you’ll stay in the dark and be lost. Let me say it again: if you enter this path and receive the Holy Spirit, it will show you everything you should do. This is Christ’s teaching. There won’t be any more teaching until he appears to you in person. And when he does appear, do what he tells you.

Nephi’s Final Words

I, Nephi, can’t say any more. The Spirit stops me. All I can do now is grieve—because of people’s unbelief, wickedness, ignorance, and stubbornness. They refuse to seek knowledge. Even when great truths are given to them in the plainest possible language, they still don’t understand.

Listen to the Spirit and Pray

My friends, I can tell you’re still puzzling over this. It breaks my heart that I even need to bring this up. If you would just listen to the Spirit—who teaches everyone to pray—you’d know that you must pray. The evil spirit doesn’t teach people to pray. He teaches them not to. So you must pray always, and never give up. Don’t do anything for the Lord without first praying to the Father in Christ’s name. Ask him to make your actions sacred—so that what you do will help your soul.
