The Book of Mormon

Alma 28

A Great Battle

The people of Ammon were set up in the land of Jershon. A church was also set up in the land of Jershon. The Nephite armies stood around the land of Jershon. They stood around all the borders of the land of Zarahemla. The Lamanite armies had followed their brothers into the wilderness. Then a huge battle happened. It was bigger than any battle since Lehi left Jerusalem. Tens of thousands of Lamanites were killed and ran away. Many Nephites were also killed. But the Lamanites were pushed back and ran away. The Nephites went back to their land.

A Time of Sadness

This was a time of great sadness. The sound of crying was heard all over the land among all the Nephites. Wives cried for their husbands. Fathers cried for their sons. Daughters cried for their brothers. Brothers cried for their fathers. The sound of crying was heard from everyone. They cried for their family members who had been killed. This was a very sad day. It was a serious time. It was a time of much fasting and prayer.

And so the 15th year ended. This was the 15th year of the judges over the Nephites.

The End of the Story

This is the story of Ammon and his brothers. It tells about their travels in the land of Nephi. It tells about their troubles in the land. It tells about their sadness and their hard times. It also tells about their great joy. It tells about how the brothers were welcomed and kept safe in the land of Jershon. May the Lord, the Savior of all people, bless them forever.

This is the story of the wars and fights among the Nephites. It is also the story of the wars between the Nephites and the Lamanites. The 15th year of the judges is ended. From the first year to the 15th year, many thousands of people died. It was a terrible scene of death.

The bodies of many thousands are buried in the ground. The bodies of many thousands are piled up on the earth. Many thousands are crying for the loss of their family members. They have reason to be afraid, because the Lord promised that these family members will suffer forever. Many thousands of others also cry for the loss of their family members. But they are happy and excited. They have hope. They even know, because the Lord promised, that their family members are with God. They are in a state of happiness that never ends.

What We Learn

And so we see how different people are because of sin and doing wrong. We see the power of the Devil. He uses clever plans to trap people’s hearts. And so we see why people need to work hard for the Lord. We see why there is great sadness and also great joy. Sadness because of death and destruction among people. Joy because of the light of Christ that leads to life.
