The Book of Mormon

Jacob 2:21

1830 Edition

Do ye not suppose that such things are abominable unto him, who created all flesh? And the one being is as precious in his sight as the other. And all flesh is of the dust; and for the self same end hath he created them, that they should keep his commandments, and glorify him forever.

Changes

Do ye not suppose that such things are abominable unto him, who created all flesh? And the one being is as precious in his sight as the other. And all flesh is of the dust; and for the self same end hath he created them, that they should keep his commandments, and glorify him forever.

Simple English

Don’t you think God hates such things? He created all people. One person is as valuable to him as another. All people are made from dust. He created them to keep his commands and honor him forever.

Paraphrase

Don’t you realize how disgusting that is to the one who created everyone? Every person is equally precious to him. We’re all made from dust, and he made us all for the same reason: to obey his commands and honor him forever.
