The Book of Mormon

Jacob 2:22

1830 Edition

And now I make an end of speaking unto you concerning this pride. And were it not that I must speak unto you concerning a grosser crime my heart would rejoice excedingly, because of you.

Changes

And now I make an end of speaking unto you concerning this pride. And were it not that I must speak unto you concerning a grosser crime, my heart would rejoice exceedingly, because of you.

Simple English

Now I will stop talking about pride. If I didn’t have to talk about a worse crime, my heart would be very happy.

Paraphrase

That’s all I’ll say about pride. I wish I could stop there—my heart would be so happy with you if I could. But there’s something worse I have to address.
