Alma 60:10

1830 Edition

And now, my beloved brethren; for ye had ought to be beloved; yea, and ye had ought to have stirred yourselves more diligently for the welfare and the freedom of this people: but behold, ye have neglected them, insomuch that the blood of thousands shall come upon your heads for vengeance; yea, for known unto God were all their cries, and all their sufferings.

Changes

And now, my beloved brethren; for ye had ought to be beloved; yea, and ye had ought to have stirred yourselves more diligently for the welfare and the freedom of this people:; but behold, ye have neglected them, insomuch that the blood of thousands shall come upon your heads for vengeance; yea, for known unto God were all their cries, and all their sufferings.

Simple English

You should be people we love. You should have worked harder for the good and freedom of this people. But you have not helped them. Now thousands of people have died. God will hold you responsible for this. God knew about all their cries and all their troubles.

Paraphrase

You should be our beloved leaders. You should have thrown yourselves into the work of defending the freedom of this people. But instead you’ve abandoned them, and the blood of thousands will be on your heads. God heard every one of their cries. He knows all their suffering.
