Alma 58:1

And behold, now it came to pass that our next object was to obtain the city of Manti; but behold, there was no way that we could lead them out of the city, by our small bands. For behold, they remembered that which we had hitherto done; therefore we could not decoy them away from their strong holds;

Our next goal was to get the city of Manti back. But there was no way we could lead them out of the city with our small groups. They remembered what we had done before. So we could not trick them away from their forts.

Our next goal was to capture the city of Manti. But we had a problem—there was no way to lure them out with our small force. They’d learned from our previous tactics, so we couldn’t trick them into leaving their fortifications.
