1 Nephi 19:6

Nevertheless, I do not write any thing upon plates, save it be that I think it be sacred. And now, if I do err, even did they err of old. Not that I would excuse myself because of other men, but because of the weakness which is in me, according to the flesh, I would excuse myself.

I only write things on plates that I think are sacred. If I make mistakes, other people in the past made mistakes too. I’m not trying to excuse myself by blaming other people. I’m just saying I make mistakes because I’m human like everyone else.

I only write what I consider sacred on these plates. If I make mistakes, well, people have always made mistakes. I’m not excusing myself by pointing to others—I’m just acknowledging my human weakness.
