This is the message that Isaiah, the son of Amoz, saw about Judah and Jerusalem:
The Lord’s House in the Last Days
In the last days, the Lord’s house will be built on top of the mountains. It will be lifted up above the hills. All nations will come to it. Many people will go and say, 'Come, let’s go up to the mountain of the Lord. Let’s go to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways. We will walk in his paths.' The law will come from Zion. The word of the Lord will come from Jerusalem. He will judge the nations. He will teach many people. They will beat their swords into farm tools. They will beat their spears into tools for cutting plants. Nation will not fight against nation. They will not learn war anymore.
Jacob’s People Have Gone Astray
O house of Jacob, come and let’s walk in the light of the Lord. Come, because you have all gone the wrong way. Every one of you has gone to do bad things.
O Lord, you have left your people, the house of Jacob. This is because they copy the ways of people from the east. They listen to fortune tellers like the Philistines. They make friends with people from other lands. Their land is full of silver and gold. There is no end to their treasures. Their land is full of horses. There is no end to their chariots. Their land is full of idols. They worship the work of their own hands. They worship what their own fingers have made. The common man bows down. The important man does not humble himself. So do not forgive him.
The Day of the Lord
O you bad people, go into the rock. Hide in the dust. Fear the Lord. The glory of his greatness will strike you. The proud looks of man will be humbled. The pride of men will be brought down. The Lord alone will be lifted up in that day. The day of the Lord of hosts will soon come on all nations. It will come on every one. It will come on the proud and important. It will come on every one who is lifted up. He will be brought down. The day of the Lord will come on all the cedar trees of Lebanon, because they are high and lifted up. It will come on all the oak trees of Bashan. It will come on all the high mountains. It will come on all the hills. It will come on all the nations which are lifted up. It will come on every people. It will come on every high tower. It will come on every strong wall. It will come on all the ships of the sea. It will come on all the ships of Tarshish. It will come on all beautiful pictures. The pride of man will be brought down. The pride of men will be made low. The Lord alone will be lifted up in that day. He will completely destroy the idols.
They will go into the holes of the rocks. They will go into the caves of the earth. They will fear the Lord. The glory of his greatness will strike them when he comes to shake the earth. In that day a man will throw away his idols of silver and gold. He made them for himself to worship. He will throw them to the moles and to the bats. He will go into the cracks of the rocks. He will go to the tops of the rough rocks. He will fear the Lord. The greatness of his glory will strike him when the Lord comes to shake the earth. Stop trusting in man. His breath is in his nose. Why should he be important?
