~AD 34

3 Nephi 25

Malachi's prophecy continues with a burning day consuming the proud and wicked like stubble. To those who fear God's name, the Son of righteousness will arise with healing in his wings. The righteous will tread down the wicked. The people are commanded to remember the law of Moses. Before the great day, Elijah will turn hearts between fathers and children.

The Day of Burning

Look—the day is coming when everything will burn like a blazing oven. All the arrogant and all the wicked will be like dry straw. The day that’s coming will burn them to ashes, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. Nothing will be left—not a root, not a branch. But for you who honor my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. You’ll break free and leap like calves let out of the stall. You’ll trample the wicked. They’ll be nothing but ashes under your feet on the day I do this, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

Elijah Will Come

Remember the law I gave my servant Moses on Mount Horeb—the rules and judgments for all Israel. Listen closely: I’m going to send you the prophet Elijah before that great and terrible day of the Lord arrives. He’ll turn the hearts of parents back to their children, and the hearts of children back to their parents. Otherwise, I’ll come and strike the earth with complete destruction.
