Mosiah 3:26

~124 BC

1830 Edition

Therefore, they have drunk out of the cup of the wrath of God, which justice could no more deny unto them, than it could deny that Adam should fall, because of his partaking of the forbidden fruit; therefore, mercy could have claim on them no more forever.

Influences

Revelation 14:10 (KJV)
The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

Changes

Therefore, they have drunk out of the cup of the wrath of God, which justice could no more deny unto them, than it could deny that Adam should fall, because of his partaking of the forbidden fruit; therefore, mercy could have claim on them no more forever.

Simple English

They have drunk from the cup of God’s anger. God’s justice had to punish them, just like Adam had to fall because he ate the forbidden fruit. So God’s mercy could not help them anymore.

Paraphrase

'They’ll have drunk from the cup of God’s judgment. Justice demands it as surely as it demanded Adam’s fall when he ate the forbidden fruit. Mercy can no longer reach them.'
