And now if there should be another appointed in his stead, behold I fear there would rise contentions among you; and who knoweth but what my son, to whom the kingdom doth belong, should turn to be angry, and draw away a part of this people after him, which would cause wars and contentions among you; which would be the cause of shedding much blood, and perverting the way of the Lord; yea, and destroy the souls of much people.

Simple English
If we pick someone else to be king instead, I’m afraid there would be fights among you. My son, who should be king, might get angry. He might lead some of you away with him. This would cause wars and fighting among you. Much blood would be spilled. The Lord’s way would be twisted. Many people would be destroyed.
Paraphrase
If we appoint someone else instead, I'm afraid we'll have fighting on our hands. What if my son—the one who should be king—gets angry about this? He could turn bitter and rally followers to his side. That would lead to war, bloodshed, people turning from God's path, and many souls destroyed.
