Mosiah 28:20

And now, as I said unto you, that after king Mosiah had done these things, he took the plates of brass, and all the things which he had kept, and conferred them upon Alma, which was the son of Alma; yea, all the records, and also the interpreters, and conferred them upon him, and commanding him that he should keep and preserve them, and also keep a record of the people, handing them down from one generation to another, even as they had been handed down from the time that Lehi left Jerusalem.

After King Mosiah did these things, he took the brass plates and everything he had kept. He gave them to Alma, the son of Alma. He gave him all the records. He also gave him the tools for translating. He told him to keep and save them. He told him to write about the people too. He should pass them down to his children, just as they had been passed down since Lehi left Jerusalem.

After Mosiah finished translating, he took the brass plates and all the sacred things he’d guarded and gave them to Alma, son of Alma. He handed over all the records and the interpreters, commanding him to protect and preserve them. He told him to keep a record of the people and pass everything down from generation to generation, just as it had been passed down since Lehi left Jerusalem.
