Mosiah 24:3

And now the name of the king of the Lamanites was Laman, being called after the name of his father; and therefore he was called king Laman. And he was king over a numerous people;

The king of the Lamanites was named Laman. He had the same name as his father. They called him King Laman. He ruled over many people.

The Lamanite king’s name was Laman, named after his ancestor. He ruled over a vast population.
