Mosiah 23:28

therefore they hushed their fears, and began to cry unto the Lord, that he would soften the hearts of the Lamanites, that they would spare them, and their wives, and their children.

So they stopped being afraid. They began to pray to the Lord. They asked him to soften the hearts of the Lamanites. They wanted the Lamanites to spare them, their wives, and their children.

So they calmed their fears and started praying to the Lord, asking him to soften the Lamanites’ hearts—to spare them, their wives, and their children.
