The Book of Mormon

Mosiah 2:27

1830 Edition

therefore, as I said unto you that I had served you, walking with a clear conscience before God, even so I at this time have caused that ye should assemble yourselves together, that I might be found blameless, and that your blood should not come upon me, when I shall stand to be judged of God of the things whereof he hath commanded me concerning you.

Changes

tTherefore, as I said unto you that I had served you, walking with a clear conscience before God, even so I at this time have caused that ye should assemble yourselves together, that I might be found blameless, and that your blood should not come upon me, when I shall stand to be judged of God of the things whereof he hath commanded me concerning you.

Simple English

“So as I told you that I have served you with a clear heart before God, I have called you together now so I will not be blamed. I do not want your blood to be on me when I stand before God to be judged for the things he told me to do for you.”

Paraphrase

“That’s why I’ve called you together—so I can stand before God with a clear conscience, knowing I’ve warned you of everything he commanded me to say. I don’t want your blood on my hands when I’m judged.”
