And when he had said these words, the spirit of the Lord was upon him, and he said, Helam, I baptize thee, having authority from the Almighty God, as a testimony that ye have entered into a covenant to serve him until you are dead, as to the mortal body; and may the spirit of the Lord be poured out upon you; and may he grant unto you eternal life, through the redemption of Christ, which he hath prepared from the foundation of the world.

Simple English

After he said these words, the Spirit of the Lord came upon him. He said: 'Helam, I baptize you with authority from God. This shows you have promised to serve him until your body dies. May the Spirit of the Lord be poured out on you. May he give you life forever through Jesus’ saving power. He prepared this from the beginning of the world.'

Paraphrase

After he prayed, the Spirit of the Lord came on him, and he said: 'Helam, I baptize you by the authority of Almighty God, as proof that you’ve made a promise to serve him as long as you live in this mortal body. May the Spirit of the Lord be poured out on you, and may he give you eternal life through the rescue Christ has prepared since the foundation of the world.'
