Changes

And it came to pass that the Nephites began to repent of their iniquity, and began to cry even as had been prophesied by Samuel the prophet:; for behold no man could keep that which was his own, for the thieves, and the robbers, and the rumurderers, and the magic art, and the witchcraft which was in the land.

Simple English

Then the Nephites started to turn away from their sin. They started to cry just like Samuel the prophet had said they would. No one could keep what belonged to them because of the thieves, robbers, killers, magic, and witchcraft in the land.

Paraphrase

Then the Nephites started feeling sorry and crying out to God—just like the prophet Samuel had said they would. No one could hold onto anything anymore because of all the thieves, robbers, murderers, sorcerers, and witches in the land.
