Jarom 1:7

And it came to pass that they came many times against us, the Nephites, to battle. But our kings and our leaders were mighty men in the faith of the Lord; and they taught the people the ways of the Lord; wherefore, we withstood the Lamanites, and swept them away out of our lands, and began to fortify our cities, or whatsoever place of our inheritance.

They came against us Nephites to fight many times. But our kings and leaders were strong men who believed in the Lord. They taught the people the Lord’s ways. So we fought off the Lamanites, drove them out of our lands, and began to make our cities stronger.

They attacked us many times. But our kings and leaders were strong in their faith in the Lord, and they taught the people his ways. So we held off the Lamanites, drove them back, and started fortifying our cities and settlements.
