Jacob 4:14

But behold, the Jews were a stiffnecked people; and they despised the words of plainness, and killed the Prophets, and sought for things that they could not understand. Wherefore, because of their blindness, which blindness came by looking beyond the mark, they must needs fall: for God hath taken away his plainness from them, and delivered unto them many things which they cannot understand, because they desired it. And because they desired it, God hath done it, that they may stumble.

But the Jews were stubborn people. They hated plain words and killed the prophets. They looked for things they couldn’t understand. Because they were blind, they had to fall. They became blind by looking past the mark. So God took away his plain words. He gave them many things they couldn’t understand because that’s what they wanted. God did this so they would stumble.

Because of that, they had to stumble. God took away his plainness from them and gave them complicated things they couldn’t grasp—because that’s what they wanted. And since they wanted it, God let them have it, so they would stumble.
