But behold, if a man shall come among you, and shall say, Do this, and there is no iniquity; do that, and ye shall not suffer; yea, he will say, walk after the pride of your own hearts; yea, walk after the pride of your eyes, and do whatsoever your heart desireth; and if a man shall come among you and say this, ye will receive him, and ye will say that he is a prophet;

Changes

Simple English

“But if a man comes to you and says this: ‘Do this and there is no sin. Do that and you won’t suffer. Follow your own proud hearts. Follow your proud eyes. Do whatever your heart wants.’ If a man comes and says this, you will accept him. You will say he is a prophet.”

Paraphrase

“But if someone comes and says, ‘Do this—there’s nothing wrong with it. Do that—you won’t suffer for it. Go ahead and follow your proud hearts. Follow your proud eyes. Do whatever you want’—if someone says that, you welcome him and call him a prophet.”
