Ether 8:10

1830 Edition

And now therefore, let my father send for Akish, the son of Kimnor; and behold, I am fair, and I will dance before him, and I will please him, that he will desire me to wife; wherefore if he shall desire of thee that ye shall give unto him me to wife, then shall ye say, I will give her if ye will bring unto me the head of my father, the king.

Changes

And now, therefore, let my father send for Akish, the son of Kimnor; and behold, I am fair, and I will dance before him, and I will please him, that he will desire me to wife; wherefore if he shall desire of thee that ye shall give unto him me to wife, then shall ye say,: I will give her if ye will bring unto me the head of my father, the king.

Simple English

So send for Akish, the son of Kimnor. I am beautiful. I will dance for him. I will make him happy so he will want to marry me. If he asks to marry me, tell him: I will let you marry her if you bring me the head of my father, the king.

Paraphrase

“Here’s what we’ll do. Send for Akish, the son of Kimnor. I’ll dance for him. I’m beautiful—he’ll want to marry me. When he asks you for my hand, tell him: ‘I’ll give her to you if you bring me the head of my father, the king.’”
