And now when Moroni saw that the city of Nephihah was lost, he was exceeding sorrowful, and began to doubt, because of the wickedness of the people, whether they should not fall into the hands of their brethren.

When Moroni saw that the city of Nephihah was lost, he was very sad. He began to worry. He wondered if the wicked Nephites would lose to their enemies.

When Moroni learned that Nephihah had fallen, he was crushed. Because of the people’s wickedness, he began to wonder if they were all destined to fall into enemy hands.
