And we retained our city Cumeni, and were not all destroyed by the sword; nevertheless, we had suffered great loss.

We kept our city of Cumeni. We were not all killed by the sword. But we lost many people.

We held Cumeni. We weren’t wiped out. But we’d taken heavy losses.
