Alma 53:10

And now behold, I have somewhat to say concerning the people of Ammon, which, in the beginning, were Lamanites; but by Ammon and his brethren, or rather by the power and word of God, they had been converted unto the Lord; and they had been brought down into the land of Zarahemla, and had ever since been protected by the Nephites;

I have something to say about the people of Ammon. At first, they were Lamanites. But Ammon and his brothers converted them to the Lord. Or rather, God’s power and word converted them. They came down to the land of Zarahemla. The Nephites protected them ever since.

Now let me tell you about the people of Ammon. They had started out as Lamanites, but Ammon and his brothers—or rather, God’s power and word working through them—had converted them to the Lord. They’d been brought to the land of Zarahemla and had lived under Nephite protection ever since.
