Now we see that the man had became as God, knowing good and evil; and lest he should put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever, that the Lord God placed Cherubims and the flaming sword, that he should not partake of the fruit;

Simple English

Adam and Eve had become like God, knowing good and evil. The Lord God placed angels and the flaming sword there so they couldn’t eat from the tree of life and live forever.

Paraphrase

By then, Adam had become like God—knowing good and evil. The Lord put those cherubim and that flaming sword there so Adam couldn’t reach out, take fruit from the tree of life, eat it, and live forever.
