Alma 29:9
1830 Edition
I know that which the Lord hath commanded me, and I glory in it; I do not glory of myself, but I glory in that which the Lord hath commanded me; yea, and this is my glory, that perhaps I may be an instrument in the hands of God, to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy.
Changes
I know that which the Lord hath commanded me, and I glory in it;. I do not glory of myself, but I glory in that which the Lord hath commanded me; yea, and this is my glory, that perhaps I may be an instrument in the hands of God, to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy.
Simple English
I know what the Lord has told me to do, and I am proud of it. I am not proud of myself. I am proud of what the Lord asked me to do. My greatest joy is that I might help someone turn away from their sins. That makes me happy.
Paraphrase
I know what the Lord’s asked me to do, and I take pride in it. Not pride in myself—pride in what he’s called me to. My deepest joy? Being used by God to help even one person turn back to him.
