Alma 28:4

And now this was a time that there was a great mourning and lamentation heard throughout all the land, among all the people of Nephi;

This was a time of great sadness. The sound of crying was heard all over the land among all the Nephites.

Then came a time of deep mourning. You could hear grief echoing across the entire land among the Nephite people.
