Alma 27:3

Now this people again rufused to take their arms, and they suffered themselves to be slain according to the desires of their enemies.

These people would not pick up their weapons. They let their enemies kill them.

True to their covenant, the Anti-Nephi-Lehies refused to pick up weapons. They let themselves be killed rather than break their promise.
