Changes

And now behold, we have come, and been forth amongst them; and we have been patient in our sufferings, and we have suffered every privation; yea, we have travelled from house to house, relying upon the mercies of the world; not upon the mercies of the world alone, but upon the mercies of God;.

Simple English

We have come and have been among them. We have been patient in our suffering. We have gone without food. We have traveled from house to house. We counted on the mercy of the people. But not only on the mercy of the people. We counted on the mercy of God.

Paraphrase

“And here we are. We’ve been among them. We’ve been patient through our suffering. We’ve gone without everything. We’ve traveled from house to house, depending on the mercy of the world—but not just on human mercy. On God’s mercy.”
