and thus we can plainly discern, that after a people has been once enlightened by the spirit of God, and hath had great knowledge of things pertaining to righteousness, and then have fallen away into sin and transgression, they become more hardened, and thus their estate becometh worse than as though they had never known these things.

Changes

aAnd thus we can plainly discern, that after a people hasve been once enlightened by the sSpirit of God, and hathve had great knowledge of things pertaining to righteousness, and then have fallen away into sin and transgression, they become more hardened, and thus their estate becomeths worse than as though they had never known these things.

Simple English

We can see that after people have been taught by the Spirit of God and have learned a lot about doing what’s right, if they fall away into sin, they become harder. Their situation becomes worse than if they had never known these things.

Paraphrase

This shows us clearly: once people have been enlightened by God’s Spirit and gained deep knowledge of what’s right, if they fall away into sin, they become harder than ever. They end up worse off than if they’d never known these things at all.
