Alma 23:2

yea, he sent a decree among them, that they should not lay their hands on them to bind them, or to cast them into prison; neither should they spit upon them, nor smite them, nor cast them out of their synagogues, nor scourge them; neither should they cast stones at them, but that they should have free access to their houses, and also their temples, and their sanctuaries;

The king made a law. His people should not tie these men up or put them in prison. They should not spit on them or hit them. They should not throw them out of their churches or whip them. They should not throw stones at them. The teachers should be able to go into any house, temple, or church.

He made it official: don’t arrest them or tie them up. Don’t throw them in prison. Don’t spit on them, attack them, or kick them out of your synagogues. Don’t whip them or stone them. Instead, let them into your homes, your temples, and your sacred places.
