Alma 14:5

1830 Edition

And the people went forth and witnessed against them, testifying that they had reviled against the law, and their Lawyers and Judges of the land, and also all the people that were in the land; and also testified that there was but one God, and that he should send his Son among the people, but he should not save them; and many such things did the people testify against Alma and Amulek. And it came to pass that it was done before the Chief Judge of the land.

Changes

Simple English

The people came forward and spoke against them. They said that Alma and Amulek spoke badly about the law, their lawyers and judges, and all the people in the land. They also said Alma and Amulek taught there was only one God and that he would send his Son to the people, but he would not save them. The people said many things like this against Alma and Amulek. This was done in front of the chief judge of the land.

Paraphrase

The people stepped forward to testify against them. They accused Alma and Amulek of attacking the law, the lawyers, the judges, and everyone in the land. They twisted their words, saying they’d claimed God would send his Son but wouldn’t save anyone. All these lies were presented before the chief judge.
