And it came to pass that when Amulek saw the pains of the women and children which were consuming in the fire, he was also pained; and he saith unto Alma, How can we witness this awful scene? Therefore let us stretch forth our hands, and exercise the power of God which is in us, and save them from the flames.

And it came to pass that when Amulek saw the pains of the women and children whicho were consuming in the fire, he walso walso pained; and he saithd unto Alma,: How can we witness this awful scene? Therefore let us stretch forth our hands, and exercise the power of God which is in us, and save them from the flames.

Simple English

When Amulek saw the pain of the women and children burning in the fire, he was also in pain. He said to Alma: “How can we watch this terrible thing? Let’s use the power of God that is in us and save them from the fire.”

Paraphrase

When Amulek saw the women and children burning alive, he was overwhelmed with anguish. He said to Alma, “How can we just stand here and watch this? Let’s use the power of God and save them from the flames!”
