3 Nephi 6:13

some were lifted up in pride, and others were exceeding humble; some did return railing for railing, while others would receive railing, and persecution, and all manner of afflictions, and would not turn and revile again, but were humble and penitent before God;

Some people became proud. Others stayed humble. Some people said mean things back when others were mean to them. But others were treated badly and didn’t say mean things back. They stayed humble before God.

Some became puffed up with pride, while others stayed deeply humble. Some threw insults back when insulted, while others endured the mockery, persecution, and suffering without fighting back—they stayed humble and repentant before God.
