2 Nephi 9:48

Behold, if ye were holy, I would speak unto you of holiness; but as ye are not holy, and ye look upon me as a teacher, it must needs be expedient that I teach you the consequences of sin.

If you were holy, I would speak to you about holiness. But since you are not holy and you see me as a teacher, I must teach you what happens when you sin.

If you were holy, I’d talk to you about holiness. But you’re not holy, and you see me as a teacher. So I have to teach you what happens when you sin.
