1 Nephi 8:28

And after that they had tasted of the fruit, they were ashamed, because of those that were scoffing at them; and they fell away into forbidden paths, and were lost.

After those people had tasted the fruit, they felt embarrassed because of those who were making fun of them. They fell away into wrong paths and were lost.

“Those who had tasted the fruit felt ashamed when they saw the mockers. They left the tree, took forbidden paths, and got lost.”
