For, behold, the spirit of the Lord ceaseth soon to strive with them; for, behold, they have rejected the prophets, and Jeremiah have they cast into prison. And they have sought to take away the life of my father, insomuch that they have driven him out of the land.

Simple English

The Spirit of the Lord will soon stop trying to help them. They have rejected the prophets and put Jeremiah in prison. They tried to kill our father, so they forced him to leave the land.

Paraphrase

“The Spirit is about to stop working with the people there. They’ve rejected the prophets and thrown Jeremiah in prison. They tried to kill our father—that’s why he had to flee.”
