1830 Edition

And the God of our fathers, which were led out of Egypt, out of bondage, and also were preserved in the wilderness by him; yea, the God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, yieldeth himself according to the words of the angel, as a man, into the hands of wicked men, to be lifted up according to the words of Zenock, and to be crucified, according to the words of Neum, and to be buried in a sepulchre, and according to the words of Zenos, which he spake, concerning the three days of darkness, which should be a sign given of his death, unto them who should inhabit the isles of the sea; more especially given unto them which are of the House of Israel.

And the God of our fathers, whicho were led out of Egypt, out of bondage, and also were preserved in the wilderness by him;, yea, the God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, yieldeth himself, according to the words of the angel, as a man, into the hands of wicked men, to be lifted up, according to the words of Zenock, and to be crucified, according to the words of Neum, and to be buried in a sepulchre, and according to the words of Zenos, which he spake, concerning the three days of darkness, which should be a sign given of his death, unto thosem who should inhabit the isles of the sea;, more especially given unto thosem whicho are of the Hhouse of Israel.

Simple English

The God of our fathers led them out of Egypt and slavery. He kept them safe in the wilderness. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob will give himself up as a man to wicked men. He will be lifted up just like the prophet Zenock said. He will be nailed to a cross like the prophet Neum said. He will be buried in a tomb. And just like the prophet Zenos said, there will be three days of darkness as a sign of his death. This sign will be given to people who live on islands in the sea. It will especially be given to the people of Israel.

Paraphrase

The God of our ancestors—who rescued them from Egypt and kept them safe in the wilderness—the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, will surrender himself as a man to wicked people. Zenock said he’d be lifted up. Neum said he’d be crucified. Zenos said he’d be buried in a tomb and spoke of three days of darkness that would signal his death to those on the islands of the sea, especially to the house of Israel.
