1 Nephi 18:2

Now I, Nephi, did not work the timbers after the manner which was learned by men, neither did I build the ship after the manner of men; but I did build it after the manner which the Lord had shewn unto me; wherefore, it was not after the manner of men.

I, Nephi, didn’t work the wood the way people had learned. I didn’t build the ship the way people usually build ships. I built it the way the Lord had shown me. So it was not built like other ships.

I didn’t follow any human blueprints or building methods. I built it exactly the way the Lord showed me—completely different from anything people normally build.
