and I beheld that the power of God was with them; and also, that the wrath of God was upon them, that were gathered together against them to battle.

I saw that the power of God was with them. God was also angry with all those who gathered to fight against them.

Paraphrase

But God’s power protected them. His anger fell on all the nations that gathered to fight them.
