And it came to pass that he said unto me, look: And I looked as if to look upon him, and I saw him not; for he had gone from before my presence.

Simple English
Then he said to me, “Look!” I looked to see him, but I could not see him. He had gone away from me.
Paraphrase
“Look,” he said. But when I turned to look at him again, he was gone.
