Mosiah 7:25

For if this people had not fallen into transgression, the Lord would not have suffered that this great evil should come upon them. But behold, they would not hearken unto his words; but there arose contentions among them, even so much that they did shed blood among themselves.

“If this people had not done wrong things, the Lord would not have let this great evil come to them. But they would not listen to his words. They fought among themselves so much that they killed each other.”

“If this people hadn’t rebelled, the Lord never would have let this disaster happen to us. But they wouldn’t listen to his words. Instead they turned on each other with such fury that they murdered their own people.”
