Mosiah 3:19
1830 Edition
for the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been, from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever; but if he yieldeth to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man, and becometh a saint, through the atonement of Christ, the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father.

Simple English
All people naturally fight against God. This has been true since Adam fell and will always be true. But if someone listens to the Holy Spirit and stops being natural, they can become a saint through Christ. They become like a child who is willing to obey, gentle, humble, patient, full of love, and ready to accept whatever the Lord wants them to go through, just like a child obeys their father.
Paraphrase
“Our natural human self is God’s enemy—it has been since Adam fell, and it always will be. But when someone listens to the Holy Spirit’s invitation, sets aside that natural self, and becomes a saint through Christ’s sacrifice—when they become childlike, gentle, humble, patient, loving, and willing to accept whatever the Lord allows, just as a child trusts their father—then they find life.”
